Lukas is a photojournalist based in the western United States.
He is a lover of the outdoors, spending his free moments walking down trails with his dog Jimmy. Lukas is proudly mediocre at playing the guitar and never turns down an opportunity for a last-minute climbing trip, and sometimes, he rolls up his pant legs to look like he is better at climbing than he is.
Lukas' photographic style emphasizes quiet and candid moments. His goal is to photograph with empathy and integrity, putting trust with his subjects at the forefront. Lukas is in his element in bad weather and embraces all that Mother Nature has to offer. Lukas studied photojournalism at the University of Montana in Missoula where he worked as a photographer and photo editor at the award winning Montana Kaimin student newspaper. After a stint working for Lee papers like the Montana Standard and the Ravalli Republic, he acquired a love and an appreciation for small town news. It was this appreciation that led him to take on his most recent job at the Astorian. Lukas strongly believes that news is a public service and any editorial power must be held by those local to the communities they report on.
